Caritas Malaysia is a member of the Caritas Internationalis network of 165 Catholic relief, development and social service agencies working in over 200 countries and territories around the world.
Listening to Voices on the Ground
Caritas Malaysia endeavours to serve marginalised and vulnerable communities through a local diocesan consultation process.
Community-based development seeks to engage local communities through dialogue and empowers them to participate and take responsibility for the improvement of their lives, communities, and environment.
HUMANITARIAN APPEAL FOR UKRAINE
CARITAS Malaysia joins the global CARITAS Confederation in their emergency appeal to support the humanitarian relief efforts of CARITAS Ukraine. It aims to support conflict-affected people with food, drinking water, safe accommodation and hygiene kits. CARITAS is also working to ensure safe transportation for vulnerable people to reach their loved ones and safe areas.
Crisis in Ukraine
The toll of the first month of the war in Ukraine is at least 2,421 civilian victims, 3,389,044 refugees – including at least 1.5 million children – and nearly 6.5 million internally displaced persons. Caritas Internationalis continues to sustain the two Ukrainian Caritas organisations – Caritas Ukraine and Caritas Spes-Ukraine – that had stood by the people from the very first moments and have never abandoned them.
Caritas Malaysia is the official arm of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia (CBCM) engaging in works of charity, relief, integral human development, care for creation and social services. It is a network of nine diocesan Caritas and national office with affiliates from congregations and other Catholic organisations engaged in the field of charity and integral development at a national level. We seek to work with communities, non-governmental organisations, and local authorities to promote an inclusive and sustainable development for all.
